After much anticipation on so many levels, Nola finally took her first plane ride to New Orleans to meet many relatives, especially her younger cousin Tripp, and attend her first LSU tailgate.
Nola was such a trooper on the plane(thanks to Baby Tylenol). She slept most of the way and barely cried. Thank goodness because when we landed (after being slammed with the humidity blanket-some things never change)she was swept up in a whirlwind of hugs and kisses. She met her Aunt Christy, Uncle David, and cousin Tripp at the airport. Then,we visited Nanny at work and Aunt Mary at her house, before stopping for lunch at Bud's Broiler. Then we went to Nana's to set up for the fish fry. DELICIOUS!!! SO many people came over to meet Nola and Tripp and we took lots of pics.
After a late night of partying, we packed up ALL the baby gear (for two babies-YIKES!) and headed up to Baton Rouge for the rematch David & I have been waiting 5 years for. We put Nola & Tripp in the Pack n play together and they were so cute in their outfits and playing with each other. They were such troopers, sitting in the heat all day (in the shade of course). It was great catching up with everyone and Nola got to meet Uncle Heath, Aunt Erica, and many more. It's so cool that the next generation of Tiger fans are arriving. Sorry David and Tripp, but in case y'all didn't know the Tigers CRUSHED the Hokies 48-7. Tripp told Nola that he secretly wants to go to LSU (I'm really sorry Dave)! After tailgating all day, we packed ALL the baby gear and headed to the hotel while David, Jay and Mike went to the game. As soon as we got the kids in the AC, they came back to life. We loved hanging out all day but it was really nice watching the game at the hotel in the AC.
Sunday we slept in a little and then packed up to pick up Uncle Mike from his fraternity house and visit Mike the Tiger's cage. Mike VI made his debut for the VT game. He must have been too hot cause he wouldn't move from under the tree, so we enjoyed fresh lemonade and tooks pics. Then, we met G-Momma, Aunt Elizabeth, and Uncle Dominick at Ninfa's (my FAV Mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge) before heading back to Nana and Grump's so more family could meet Nola.
Whew! SO much packed in such short time. Typical trip to New Orleans for Jay and I, and Nola seemed to adjust quite well. Thanks to everyone who came to visit. It was a HOOT! We can't wait to come back next month for the christening.
