Nola's First Haircut

Nola's hair was getting straggly at the ends so I told Jay I was taking her for a trim. He said, "Well I'm coming!" Many of our friends recommended a place called Snip-Its. They are extremely kid-friendly and really make the experience fun for kids.
When we first got there Nola kept saying this place is nice. "Do they fix things here? What did we bring to fix?" I didn't tell her exactly what we were doing there because she told me several times that she didn't want to get her hair cut. All of a sudden, she realized that they cut hair there and she screamed, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!" She started screaming and crying. I was trying to calm her down but it wasn't working.
When they called our name, we walked over to the station and Nola continued to scream and cry. She would not sit down and kept climbing up my chest. I was COVERED in hives from head to toe. You would have thought we were poisoning her. I am blaming this whole thing on Jay because he brainwashed Nola to never get her hair cut.
I was about to walk out but I asked the girl to just let me know if she thought Nola's hair really needed to be cut. She said it wasn't bad but just started trimming it while I was holding Nola.

Nola started to calm down but still wouldn't sit in the chair. I was bribing her with everything. Moe's, a new car..nothing worked.

Jay and I kept talking to Nola to keep her calm.

It was working...finally...I told her if she sat in the chair I would let her get her nails painted.

It worked!
They took Nola's picture and gave her a certificate with some of her hair. It was a really cute experience. She even got to put a card in a slot and get a prize.

Drama Queen getting her nails done!

Final Words on the way out: "Mom that was fun. I'll do it again!"

REALLY?!

Finn's 4 month checkup & First Snow

The Day after Christmas we were hit with a HUGE snow storm. Uncle Mike & Aunt Brandi's flight was canceled but they got to fly into Pittsburgh and drive over. :) Although the snow caused travel troubles, Nola couldn't wait to get out there and play in it. We threw Finn out there with her :)

Matthew was outside with his Daddy so we took the two of them on Nola's sled around the front lawn.

Poor Finn...he hated it and just wanted to go back inside!

This was him all dressed up...right before he hit the cold air!

First Feeding 12/30/10

Always has his fingers in his mouth if he doesn't have his pacifier.

Happy Baby right after his feeding!

Finn's 4 month checkup went really well. He weighed in at 12.11 and 23 3/4 in long. This is a pound lighter and 3/4 of an inch shorter than Nola was at 4 months. He also got 5 more shots this time...poor thing. He is very strong, holds his head up really high and is even trying to stand up. Finn is a very happy baby. He gives BIG smiles to everyone and he is starting to turn his head when he hears Jay or I talking in the room. He still LOVES sleeping on his belly all covered up with a blanket. He sleeps through the night and has since about 3 months. We are VERY lucky. The dr. said we can start cereal, fruits, and veggies. So far he loves everything he has eaten(bananas, apples, pears, prunes, sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, and squash)...well he spits out the peas but he eats them all anyway. Finn has Jay's temper which usually comes out if you take his bottle away or finish feeding him. He LOVES to eat. Right now he has 2 T of cereal with a 1/2 jar of fruit and a 7 oz bottle for breakfast, 1 jar of veggies and 6 oz bottle for lunch, 6oz bottle in the afternoon, 2 T oatmeal and 1/2 jar fruit for dinner and a 7oz bottle before bed (about 8pm). Then he sleeps until around 7 am. He is a very easy baby and we are really lucky. Nola is definitely the high maintenance child in the house...but she probably gets that from her mom :) Nola is a really good helper, just a little rough with him at times. Finn loves his sister and lights up when she talks and smiles at him.
